We are located near the quiet, small town of Moose Pass, Alaska and 20 minutes north of the coastal town of Seward. The Shackleford Creek Mountain House is located approximately 102 miles or 2 hours south of Anchorage at the head waters of the Upper Kenai River. We are located on Snug Harbor Road in the shadow of Mt. Cecil Rhodes (4400 feet/1341 meters). We are surrounded by Kenai Borough and Chugach National Forest land comprising of spruce, birch, alder willow and aspen. The setting is quiet and private. There are two good size bedrooms. The master bedroom has a queen sized sleigh bed with large bay windows that provide views of the surrounding mountains and woods. The second bedroom has a queen sized bed with a twin bunk bed. The loft is open with exposed wood beams and many large bay windows that provide commanding views of Mt Cecil Rhodes and surrounding woods. The feel is that of an enclosed tree house. The loft contains one queen four poster bed, two twin beds as well as a fold out double sized futon couch. The bathroom has a shower and claw-foot bathtub looking out at the surrounding forest. The kitchen is fully outfitted with pots, pans, dishes, a full sized refrigerator, gas stove, dishwasher, microwave, bar seating for five along with a dining table. A wood stove provides cozy heat and the outdoor 5-person hot-tub is perfect for relaxing after a hard day playing. People other than those in the Guest party as set forth by your contract with VRBO and the owners of Shackleford Creek Mountain House LLC. may not stay overnight in the property. 13. No tents or RVs may be set up on the property for people not included in the reservation. Any other person in the property is the sole responsibility of the Guest. 14. The Guest shall keep the property and all furnishings in good order 15. The Guest shall only use appliances for their intended uses 16. My wife Jennifer and I chose this spot on Trail River to raise our children because of its incredible beauty. Trail River Gardens is located just 20 min from Seward in the heart of the Chugach mountains on beautiful Trail River. From our deck the river is just 50 feet away with the majestic Mount Madison as a back drop. There are lakes above and below us with mountains on all sides. Moose Pass is a beautiful little town, surrounded by mountains, lakes, and streams with hiking trails abounding. The opportunities to enjoy nature and all that it offers are endless. Last but not least, it's a beautiful 30 minute drive to the port town of Seward with The Kenai Fjords, Exit Glacier, the Alaska Sealife Center, Shopping and much more or Cooper Landing and its world famous Russian River Red Salmon fishing. Although Homer is a few hours away and may be a bit of a drive, with an early morning start it can be your adventure for the day. Relax, Settle in and Make this your "Home Away From Home".

Our Lodge is located right on the beautiful Upper Kenai River right in Cooper Landing, Alaska. It has 5 bedrooms and 3 full bathrooms. It is perfect for large fishing groups, family reunions and retreats. With a large deck on the river, fully stocked kitchen and a nightly campfire, it is easy to relax and really enjoy your time in Alaska. The first thing you will notice when walking up to the main lodge is the proximity to the campfire pit and the Kenai River. The spacious deck off the house has several grills set up for your use. When you walk through the sliding glass door into the living and dining area, you will see a large dining room table which can seat up to 12 people. The living room has two comfortable couches and provides a nice area to relax and spend time together. The kitchen is off of the dining room and is fully equipped with a refrigerator, stove, oven, microwave and dishwasher. Back in the living room, you will see a set of stairs which lead to the King and the Silver Rooms. There is a door to shut the living area from the bedrooms upstairs in case there are some in your group who might want to stay up late and others who turn in early. The Silver room is at the top of the stairs and has a queen and a twin bed, as well as an outstanding view of the Kenai River and Chugach Mountains. The Silver room also has a small refrigerator, microwave and coffee maker. Down the hall, you have a large bathroom with a shower stall, toilet and sink. Across the hall from the bathroom is the King Room. This room has a queen bed and a set of bunk beds. The King Room has a small refrigerator, coffee maker and microwave. The views from the King Room are fantastic all year round and, if you open the window, you can enjoy the gentle babbling creek right behind the house. The King and Silver rooms also have a separate entrance with a nice deck and sitting area, located at the end of the hall Back downstairs, we have three more bedrooms. The Rainbow Rooms are located just off the living room, again with a door to shut off the hallway from noise. Each of the Rainbow Rooms has a great view of the forest behind the lodge and a peek of the Kenai River. The first Rainbow Room is Rainbow 3, just to your right. Rainbow 3 has a twin bed and a bunk bed. You will also find a microwave, small refrigerator and coffee maker. Rainbow 3 shares a bathroom with the other two Rainbow rooms. Further down the hall is Rainbow 2. Rainbow 2 is right across from the shared bathroom. There is a full sized bed and bunk bed in this room. Also, a microwave, coffee maker and small refrigerator are provided for your convenience. At the end of the hall is Rainbow 1. It has two entrances, one from the hall way and a then a private entrance from the outside. In Rainbow 1, we have a queen bed and a set of bunk beds. There is also a microwave, coffee maker and small refrigerator in this room. Cooper Landing Lodge started off as our weekend home in Cooper Landing, AK in 2014. Our family enjoys fishing and hanging around the campfire, but not the discomfort of sleeping on the ground and loading up the car when camping. As the summer of 2018 came to an end, a local Cooper Landing resident offered to help us run our home as a Vacation Rental to others. This was the start of us opening our home to strangers in the hopes they are able to create cherished memories using Cooper Landing Lodge as a base camp. We love sharing our home with visitors and friends, so we have strived to make it family friendly. It includes a pack-n-play, booster seat, and games for all ages to play. The kitchen has everything you need to enjoy cooking in the wilderness, Oven, Microwave, dishwasher, Fridge/Freezer. When your adventure results in dirty clothes you can wash and dry them at the cabin. No need to go to a laundromat or wait until you get home. Our home has an air hockey table, and Nintendo 64. Enjoy showing the younger generation how you had to stay entertained! We also have a Blue-ray disk player and a few DVDs. When it's time to retire for the night we have a queen bed and a full size bed upstairs with access to a full bathroom. In the basement there are two rooms, each with a queen bed and a pack-n-play in a closet. In the main living area we have a pull out couch. The second bathroom is located in the entry.

The home is located lust minutes from the Kenai River and shopping yet feels remote and secluded. Directions from Anchorage: Take route AK-1 South towards Seward. Follow this route all the way to Cooper Landing. When you see Kenai lake on your left in Cooper Landing start preparing to look for Bean Creek Road on the right side. Bean Creek road is just before the Kenai Bridge that goes across the outlet of Kenai lake and River. When on Bean Creek Road look for Slaughter Ridge Road and take a right. Take you next right on Langille road. From there look for a rock embankment on the left hand side. Once just past that on the right will be 18533 Langille road. Turn into the driveway and take the right fork at the Y. That will lead you to our home.

The house is located a five hundred yards upriver on the opposite bank from the Kenai Princess Wilderness Lodge, just upstream the Upper River rapids. The living set up is ideal for a romantic couple, a family of 6 or 4-5 friends. Moose, bear, bald eagles, beavers, goats and mountain sheep are commonly seen from the property. Outside there are plentiful wild raspberries in late summer, an outdoor sauna and wade fishing for Rainbows and Dollies. Wildlife viewing from the property in May can be fantastic before the river opens for fishing. Bald eagles frequently hunt from the trees in the backyard during the early season. The fly fishing for trophy rainbow trout and Dolly Varden on the upper river is tremendous between July and late October. In late September and October silver salmon begin to spawn in the river behind the house. The fall season in Cooper Landing is arguably the most beautiful time of the year. As the summer season comes to an end the rainbow trout and silver salmon fishing is at its peak as the deciduous trees turn bright yellow and orange. This property is located across the river from the Kenai Princess Lodge at the beginning of the Upper River Rapids. There is about 130 feet of low bank river frontage and an additional 700 feet of wade access under normal water conditions. This property can be rented with the neighboring River House upstream (VRBO #252577). We have completed a significant remodel during the winter and spring of 2016 which included adding a new washer/dryer, new flooring, upgrading the kitchen, adding five windows, full length dormer, new interior and exterior paint and a Norwegian stove to better experience this river front setting. The lower river has some of the best King Salmon fishing in the world and I believe we still hold the world record for Kings. Other Activities: World class hiking trails are numerous in the immediate area along with very gentle easy hikes like the trail to the Russian River Falls for bear viewing. Kenai River Float-n-Fish Drift House is a perfect place to set up base camp for fishing the Upper Kenai River. We are 2 miles from the Cooper Landing boat launch at the outlet of Kenai Lake, 5 miles from Sportsman’s Boat Launch and the Russian River Ferry, and only 8 miles from Jim’s landing for the days you want to chase rainbow trout and dolly Varden in the Kenai National Wildlife Refuge. We are located just off the Sterling Highway and next to a small private campground. We have plenty of room to park your boat or raft! Drift House is a 3 bedroom, 1 bathroom house that sleeps 6 total. The main house features a king bed in bedroom 1, a full bed in bedroom 2, a kitchen with a gas range and oven, a full bath with shower and tub, and a washer/dryer. ?The connected third bedroom has a separate entrance and two full beds, a mini-fridge, microwave, and coffee pot. The space is comfortable and not too fancy, so you can really live here and enjoy yourself and relax. We are pet-friendly and smokers are welcome (as long as you smoke outside only).
